Connect SD: A Justice Information Sharing (JIS) Success Story (WEBINAR)

05-06-2013 11:39

For the JISP community and for long-standing partner the Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative (Global) Advisory Committee (GAC), highlighting successful information sharing projects is more than simply relaying inspirational stories—it’s the way we contribute to a body of knowledge that serves as a by the field, for the field reference for our colleagues about what solutions work, what approaches need refinement, and who is available to help. One such story chronicles the development, implementation, and future of CONNECT South Dakota, which truly was inspired by fellow practitioners’ efforts in much this same type of forum.

CONNECT South Dakota exemplifies a state’s successful use of federal funding (provided by the Bureau of Justice Assistance [BJA]) to initiate projects resulting in cost savings and business efficiencies, the criticality of a mission advocate, and the collaboration imperative, including integral involvement by the private industry (via the IJIS Institute) and training and technical assistance providers.
